The day of our 1,000 year flood, October 4, 2015, was a day most South Carolinians will never forget. During and after this life changing event, neighbors, friends, community members, and good Samaritans from near and far came together to give support to those in need. This sense of community and love I witnessed was like no other I have seen in my lifetime. I was overwhelmingly moved by the goodness in people.
It seemed as though time stood still for a few weeks in our community as neighbors, friends, business owners, and residents came together to lend a hand to so many who experienced great loss due to the flood. The amazing efforts and will to help our neighbors gave me such pride to call South Carolina home.
I felt inspired to make something that represents my feelings for our state, so I created my version of a SC Home canvas. The background of the canvas resembles the flood water and the beauty of so many people who gave so much during that time and who continue to do so.
After painting and presenting my first canvas, I received such a positive response and requests for more, I decided to use the image from one of my SC Home paintings to create car magnets.
The car magnet is an original ArtbyAnsley, and it is a square 5”x 5” with rounded corners. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of these SC Home car magnets will be donated to the United Way in Columbia to be given to victims of the flood and those who suffered losses after this natural disaster.
I have approached some small local businesses around town and have been very pleased that so many local shops and restaurants are on board and very excited about promoting my SC Home magnets.
Each magnet retails for $7.99 and is individually wrapped in a clear bag with an insert of a special sentiment and significance of my SC Home magnet.

Event planners Jaime Lomas of Eggplant Events Production and Amy Sunshine Younginer are using my SC Home logo and purchasing magnets to give as gifts to attendees for the Richland County Legislative Night Out in March at the Convention Center; they are also giving them to runners at the Palmetto Half Marathon.
Holcombe Smith with Exceed Landscape Solutions in Columbia purchased several magnets for business purposes.
I am grateful to those who are participating and hope the donations will help to relieve some of the problems flood victims have been experiencing.
